When I first started studying relationships and emotions, I was a pharmaceutical rep. I was drawn to the science of relationships and understanding why some stay connective and grow with every passing year while others just don’t. Well, as I deepened my knowledge, I started to see the correlation between high-conflict relationships and inflammation. I was curious how our emotional states, nervous system, as well as our relationship to ourselves impacted our health. In the Harvard Study of Adult Development, it was clearly shown that the quality of our relationships impacts not just our health but also our overall well-being.
These learnings sparked a fire in me to dive deeper and get even more curious about how exactly our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and emotions affect our nervous system, immune system, and our health in general. Naturally, when you’re curious about the interplay between these systems, it will draw you to Dr Joe Dispenza’s work.
Dr Joe Dispenza is a New York Times best-selling author, researcher, lecturer, and corporate consultant, whose research has led him to develop a practical formula to help people transform their lives. His passion can be found at the intersection of the latest findings from the fields of neuroscience, epigenetics, and quantum physics to explore the science behind spontaneous remissions. He integrates that knowledge to teach people how to heal their bodies of health conditions, make significant changes in their lives, and evolve their consciousness.
I’m so excited to share with you that this week, I got to interview Dr Joe on the correlation between all of these systems and how, just by changing our thoughts and getting into meditative states, we can shift our physiology. Powerful stuff.
"So, is it possible then, if your thoughts can make you sick, your thoughts can make you well? That’s exactly what our research shows. If you keep thinking the same way, you keep making the same choices, you keep thinking the same things, having the same experiences and reacting to the same conditions with the same emotions, for the most part, your genes and your brain, everything is going to stay the same. And your blood values because you’re the same. So then, the process of thinking differently, making different choices, doing different things, creating different experiences, and feeling different emotions… if you do that for seven days, you have significant changes that take place on a cellular level in your brain, and in just about every part of your biology, because you’re making those changes.” - Dr Joe Dispenza

Only yesterday I was sat in the sun with my Kindle reading "Evolve Your Mind" by Joe Dispenza and took another step towards refining the relationship between our three states: the subconscious (being), the conscious (thinking), and the result of these two states meeting, thus creating the quality of mind we all know and love for its predictability.
I do wish you'd stop releasing such high quality work, brother. It's gonna take me years to get through my current back catalogue and even longer to crawl out of your arse.
Maybe meet with someone regarding the practice of prioritising shit? I bet I'm not the only one who could benefit from swimming in the waters of this kind of wisdom.
Perfect timing on this article and podcast. Thank you, Mark. Ps. Love the clever humor of the comment above 😉
