Relationships Are Our Greatest Invitation

Relationships are THE MOST POTENT vehicle for growth and transformation. If we’re willing to turn towards our partnerships, both past and present, seeking to understand why we do what we do (and for our partners to do the same), we can heal the wounds and behaviours we have that hold us back and create a loving relationship that is only spoken about in poems and movies.

If you’re looking to step into relationship mastery, you’re going to want to check out the podcast episode I recently did with my good friend and couples expert, Nick Solaczek! In this episode, we jam on what makes a strong romantic relationship and how to cultivate one ourselves. As a relationship coach and teacher, Nick works closely with IMAGO theory in his practice and specializes in romantic relationships with an emphasis on safe conversations, conscious relationship principles, mindfulness, authenticity and boundary setting.

In the episode, we dive into the philosophy of IMAGO, developed by internationally-respected couple's therapists, Dr. Harville Hendrix and Dr. Helen LaKelly Hunt. “Imago,” from the Latin word meaning “image,” — refers to the “unconscious image of familiar love” and the frequent connection between frustrations in adult relationships and early childhood experiences. The fact that you and your boo have chosen each other is no accident: our unconscious has its own (brilliant!) agenda and is attracted to those with the same traits which historically caused the painful experiences we now seek to heal. Call it a cosmic joke, but I like to think of it more as an invitation: the things that are causing tension in your relationship are opportunities for healing and growth, inviting you to turn towards your adaptive strategies and transform the way you love and relate.

“If you fight more than three times about the same thing, it’s 100% about childhood; it’s never what you think you’re fighting about.”

- Nick Solaczek

If you’re looking to better understand why you and your partner operate the way you do and to strengthen your relationship, you’re gonna want to listen to this episode. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast, too, so you don’t miss any of the 🔥 episodes I have coming down the pipeline.

Tune in to hear Nick share mic-drops on…

  • How and why opposites attract when it comes to romantic relationships
